Decelska is one of the most under-appreciated districts in Kresimiria. I have always thought of it as two, Kromine and Karlovac, and was surprised when I found out both cities were in the same district. Decelska has spent a century being the middle of the republic, often discarded in conversation for the capital Sinj - but I think it’s even more influential. It is the site of Kresimir Basic’s death, the HQ of Kresimirian tech giant YakaSys, and even the prestigious Karlovac University, essentially the birthplace of Kresimirianism.
A word on trams
Kromine's tram network is older than the Republic itself. Certain lines have been updated, but mostly in the 'New East' tech quarters, so try to avoid lines 7, 8, and 10 in the Old Quarter.
- Republic Rail ticket, Sinj Central → Kromine
- Cash for the old towns
- A jumper: the New East is air-conditioned, the Old Quarter is not
- Patience for lines 7, 8 and 10
"Decelska is a city of two souls pulling away from each other"
| Route | Operator | Time | Second class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sinj Central → Kromine | Republic Rail | 4h 05m | 18 kr |
| Kromine → Karlovac | K71 bus | 1h 00m | 6 kr |
| Karlovac → Sinj | Republic Rail | 4h 40m | 19 kr |
The old capital at Karlovac is an hour on the K71 Republic Rail bus. It is absolutely worth the trip for the university alone — the Faculty of Divinity was rebuilt years after the 1960 Bombing.
