Ravna Skrad wins a school-funding reprieve
The Council for Education restores the district's per-pupil grant after a year of protest.
The Council for Education has restored Ravna Skrad’s per-pupil grant after a year in which the district’s schools ran on reserves and voluntary subscriptions.
The grant had been cut under the centralisation formula, which the council said rewarded larger urban schools. Local head teachers documented the shortfall, and the Civic Renewal Front raised it repeatedly in the Assembly. The council said the restoration recognised “exceptional local circumstances” rather than an error in the formula.
The district’s education committee said it would press for a review of the formula itself, which still leaves the other peripheral districts on the reduced rate.
