We name the man behind the curtain. He is, as ever, the one holding the ledger.
Every week we attempt to identify the person actually running the Republic. This week the answer is, once again, the chairman of a private bank who holds neither office nor mandate and who would be insulted to be asked.
STP Credit’s Petar Czyhlarz manages the sovereign debt, clears the digital krejt, and has a view on the budget before the minister has read it. The Blue Dawn benches insist he is a private citizen. He is, in the way that the weather is a private citizen.
The Council for Internal Affairs declined to comment, which in this country is how one says “he does.”
