Synod urges restraint on the digital registry
The Sanctian Church asks the Chancellory to exempt parish records from the unified registry.
The Sanctian Church has asked the Chancellory to exempt parish registers from the unified digital registry, arguing that sacramental records belong to the Church and not to the state.
The request follows the extension of KresiX identity services, which the Council for Divinity has endorsed. A synod statement said the Church accepted the digital identity card but not the merging of baptismal and marriage registers into a single state file.
The Chancellory said it would consider the request. Constitutional lawyers noted that the 1921 settlement gives the Church custody of its own records, a point the synod is expected to press in the autumn session.
