Lake Vokavovic fish stocks still below pre-2011 levels, study finds
A survey for the Cetingrad council puts the eastern littoral stocks at two-thirds of their 2010 baseline.
Fish stocks along the eastern shore of Lake Vokavovic remain about a third below their 2010 level, according to a survey commissioned by the Cetingrad council and published this week.
The survey found partial recovery in the open lake but almost none in the shallows beside the Foundry District, where Red Shore runoff settled. Bottom fauna, the base of the food chain, were still the weakest indicator.
The fishermen’s society said the findings matched what its members catch. Vokamet said it had met its discharge conditions since 1998 and pointed to the district’s treatment upgrades.
